Dad's Latest Car
My father just turned in his Toyota 4Runner and is on the lookout to lease something else. He already articulated that this drive was a bit too rough on his posterior and that it had more than required engine capacity for this part of the world… Now he's looking for a 4 cylinder or a small 6, and it must be SUV since he enjoys surfing, etc… and this is the only big car in the household, I drove his car some times to shift things all over as I drive a Toyota Prius and my wife a Beetle.
Nevertheless, the cost; it's unquestionably under US $30k including taxes and fees.
He liked the Mazda CX7, but it does not have a sufficient amount bite, the Turbo edition has admirable muscle and drives well, but for the price he opines he could do better.
He chanced upon a fantastic bargain at Volkswagen for a Jetta SportWagen 2.5L 5 cylinders… but he has a reliability concern as our Audi A6 and VW Beetle were regulalrly having problems. I suggested that with a 36-month charter he shouldn't face any difficulties (as opposed to owning the Jeep Wrangler just as he did for over 5 years).
We also looked at the new Subaru Outback, a very good car, one can feel superiority all over when you look inside… My father also suggested that he might have bought the vehicle before now if it wasn't for the salesperson being such a nincompoop… I think after taxes it reaches $28k or so, although he does seem to be partial to the SUV very much.
He drove the Toyota FJ Cruiser (4 cylinders) and opined that it handled like crap… I could not test out that one, nevertheless he does look to be confident that his new vehicle won't be a Toyota.
If you know of any good SUVs that he can look into while not having to splurge a ridiculous amount of money, your propositions are very welcome.
